Oto Medicines is an Australian biotechnology company and spin-out from The Kids Research Institute Australia, dedicated to preventing and treating childhood middle ear infections (Otitis Media). The company's lead product, Spritz-OM, is a first-in-class nasal spray containing beneficial "friendly" bacteria (probiotics) that colonize the nasopharynx to prevent the growth of pathogens like Nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi). By providing a non-invasive preventative therapy, Oto Medicines aims to reduce the global incidence of ear infections, which affect millions of children and are a primary driver of antibiotic use and surgical interventions. The company is currently advancing Spritz-OM toward Phase 1 clinical trials with support from Brandon Capital's CUREator program and the Future Health Research Innovation Fund.
