Oxford Health Alliance

The Oxford Health Alliance (OxHA) was a global non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Founded in 2003, it focused on the "3-4-50" framework, which highlights how three key behaviors—tobacco use, poor diet, and physical inactivity—contribute to four major diseases (cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic lung disease, and diabetes) that account for over 50% of deaths worldwide. The alliance worked through advocacy, research, and multi-sectoral partnerships to promote healthier lifestyles and systemic policy changes. It was closely associated with the University of Oxford and received significant founding support from Novo Nordisk. OxHA played a significant role in raising global awareness of the NCD epidemic before its functions were largely integrated into other global health initiatives.
