Company intelligence / Profile preview
Oxxon Therapeutics (formerly Oxxon Pharmaccines) was a UK-based biotechnology company specializing in the development of therapeutic vaccines for chronic infectious diseases and cancer. The company's core technology was a heterologous prime-boost immunization strategy designed to stimulate powerful T-cell responses by using different delivery vehicles for the same antigen. Its lead programs included Hi-Vax for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis B and Mel-Vax for metastatic melanoma, both of which reached Phase 2 clinical trials. Oxxon was founded based on research from the University of Oxford and was acquired by Oxford BioMedica in 2007 to bolster their immunotherapy pipeline.
