Laboratoires P. Blaud was a historic French pharmaceutical company based in Beaucaire, founded to commercialize the medical innovations of Dr. Pierre Blaud. The company is most famous for the development of "Blaud's pills" (ferrous carbonate), which were introduced in 1832 and became the first scientifically recognized treatment for iron-deficiency anemia, then known as chlorosis. For over a century, the company was a leader in hematological treatments, providing standardized iron supplementation that influenced modern nutritional therapy. Laboratoires P. Blaud was eventually integrated into Laboratoires Bouchara, which later became part of the Recordati group, marking the end of its independent operations while its legacy in iron therapy remains a significant chapter in pharmaceutical history.
