P4 Microbiome

P4 Microbiome is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing synthetic antimicrobial peptide therapies to treat diseases caused by dysbiosis in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Founded by Johns Hopkins University professors and operating as a subsidiary of D&D Pharmatech, the company's lead candidate is P4M01, a proprietary antimicrobial peptide originally developed by the US Army. P4M01 is being developed as an anti-plaque chewing gum for the treatment of gingivitis and periodontal disease, having successfully completed Phase 2a clinical trials. The company is also expanding its pipeline to address other GI conditions such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) by selectively targeting pathogenic bacteria while preserving healthy microflora.
