PacificHealth Laboratories was a research-based sports nutrition company that pioneered the use of specific carbohydrate-to-protein ratios to improve athletic performance and recovery. The company's flagship technology was a patented 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein, which was clinically shown to accelerate muscle recovery and increase endurance compared to carbohydrate-only supplements. Its most recognizable brands included Endurox R4, a post-workout recovery drink, and Accelerade, the first sports drink to incorporate protein. Founded in 1995 by Dr. Robert Portman, the company focused heavily on clinical validation, with its formulas being the subject of numerous peer-reviewed studies.
