PAI2

PAI2 is an Australian biotechnology company specializing in the development of targeted alpha therapies (TAT) for oncology. The company's lead technology involves the use of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-2 (PAI-2) as a targeting agent to deliver the alpha-emitting isotope Lead-212 to cancer cells. By targeting the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) system, which is overexpressed in many aggressive solid tumors, the therapy aims to deliver potent radiation directly to the tumor site while sparing healthy tissue. PAI2's assets were acquired by Radiopharm Theranostics in 2021 to be integrated into their broader radiopharmaceutical pipeline. The lead candidate, RAD 202, is currently being evaluated for the treatment of various uPA-positive cancers, including breast and pancreatic cancer. This approach leverages the high linear energy transfer of alpha particles to induce double-stranded DNA breaks in malignant cells.
