Pain Technologies

Pain Technologies was a Baltimore-based biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for the treatment of chronic and neuropathic pain. Founded on research from Johns Hopkins University and the University of California, San Francisco, the company specialized in identifying molecular targets involved in pain signaling pathways. Its lead programs targeted the vanilloid receptor (TRPV1) and specific sodium channels like Nav1.7. In 2003, the company was acquired by Renovis, Inc., which subsequently merged with Evotec in 2008. The company's scientific founders included Nobel laureate David Julius and renowned neuroscientist Solomon Snyder.
