Company intelligence / Profile preview
PalmSource was a prominent software company best known for developing and licensing the Palm OS, a leading operating system for personal digital assistants (PDAs) and early smartphones. In the healthcare sector, PalmSource played a critical role as the primary platform for early mobile health (mHealth) applications, enabling clinicians to access drug databases, patient records, and clinical decision support tools at the point of care. The company's ecosystem supported widely used medical software such as ePocrates and Skyscape, which became industry standards for mobile medical reference. PalmSource was spun off from Palm, Inc. in 2003 and was subsequently acquired by the Japanese company ACCESS CO., LTD. in 2005.
