Panacea Acquisition Corp. was a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) sponsored by EcoR1 Capital, specifically focused on identifying and merging with a high-growth business in the healthcare and biotechnology sectors. In February 2021, the company completed a business combination with Nuvation Bio, a biopharmaceutical company developing next-generation oncology therapies. Following the merger, the combined entity began operating as Nuvation Bio Inc. and focuses on advancing a pipeline of small molecule candidates targeting difficult-to-treat cancers. The lead programs include inhibitors for CDK, BET, and adenosine receptors designed to overcome resistance mechanisms in solid tumors.
