Panacya

Panacya is a San Diego-based biotechnology company that was established to develop therapeutic agents targeting oxidative stress, inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction. The company's primary focus was the development of PANA-1, a proprietary, stabilized, and pH-neutral aqueous formulation of N-acetylcysteine (NAC). PANA-1 was designed to overcome the stability and bioavailability limitations of standard NAC, with the goal of restoring cellular redox balance and enhancing antioxidant capacity. The company explored PANA-1 for several indications, including influenza, COVID-19, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Founded by Dr. Sheldon Hendler, a prominent figure in mitochondrial medicine, Panacya aimed to leverage redox biology to mitigate tissue damage in both acute and chronic conditions.
