Paradromics

Paradromics has developed a high-data-rate brain–computer interface platform capable of recording from individual neurons. In June 2025 they completed their first-in-human procedure with the Connexus BCI. The initial clinical focus is restoring communication for people who have lost the ability to speak due to paralysis from ALS, spinal cord injury, or stroke. Preclinical studies demonstrated high channel count neural recordings and chronic use. The company has received two FDA Breakthrough Device Designations—one for speech decoding and one for digital device control—and plans a clinical trial to study long-term safety and efficacy.
