Company intelligence / Profile preview
Paralex (also known as Paralex Bio) was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The company's primary focus was the development of inhibitors targeting the CD40/CD40L pathway, a critical costimulatory pathway in the immune system. Its lead program, a CD40L inhibitor, was designed to treat conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In 2021, Paralex was acquired by UCB, which integrated the company's assets into its immunology pipeline to further advance treatments for patients with high unmet medical needs in the autoimmune space. The acquisition allowed UCB to leverage Paralex's expertise in CD40L biology and its lead candidate, UCB7858, to strengthen its position in the rheumatology market.
