PassPort Technologies is a San Diego-based biotechnology company specializing in advanced transdermal drug delivery systems. Spun out of Nitto Denko Corporation in 2019 and acquired by Axcelead in 2021, the company utilizes its proprietary PassPort® platform to enable the delivery of small molecules, biologics, and nucleic acids through the skin. The system employs microporation technology to create temporary microchannels in the stratum corneum, allowing for rapid systemic absorption and improved patient adherence. Its lead internal program, a transdermal formulation of zolmitriptan for acute migraine, is currently in Phase 1 clinical development. PassPort also collaborates with partners like Arcturus Therapeutics to explore the transdermal delivery of mRNA-based vaccines and therapeutics.
