Pasteur Production

Institut Pasteur Production (IPP) was the industrial and commercial subsidiary of the Institut Pasteur, established in 1972 to manage the large-scale manufacturing and distribution of vaccines and diagnostic reagents. Founded under the leadership of Jacques Monod, the company was created to bridge the gap between the institute's research and public health needs, notably producing the first vaccines for hepatitis B and maintaining a global supply of rabies vaccines. In 1985, IPP was acquired by the Institut Mérieux, a move that consolidated French vaccine production and eventually led to the formation of Sanofi Pasteur. Today, its legacy and facilities, such as the Val de Reuil site, remain integral to Sanofi's global vaccine operations.
