Pearl Diagnostics

Pearl Diagnostics, formerly known as MycoMed Technologies, is a Johns Hopkins spin-off developing non-invasive in vitro diagnostic tests for serious lung infections. The company uses antibody-based assays to detect microbial extracellular vesicles and fungal antigens in urine, aiming to diagnose infections earlier and less invasively than existing methods. Its lead commercial product is the MycoMEIA Aspergillus Assay, a urine-based ELISA for detection of invasive aspergillosis that received FDA 510(k) clearance in August 2025. Pearl Diagnostics is also advancing urine-based assays for bacterial and fungal infections relevant to cystic fibrosis and pneumonia, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The company appears to operate as a private diagnostics company rather than a therapeutics developer.
