Peat Marwick, formally Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., was a leading global accounting and professional services firm and a member of the historical "Big Eight" accounting organizations. In 1987, the firm merged with Klynveld Main Goerdeler (KMG) to form KPMG, which remains one of the world's largest professional services networks. While Peat Marwick was not a biotechnology or pharmaceutical developer, its successor, KPMG, maintains an extensive Life Sciences and Healthcare practice that provides audit, tax, and advisory services to major global health organizations. The firm played a foundational role in the development of modern corporate auditing and consulting standards for the healthcare industry.
