Pediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organisation

PRINTO is an international non-profit research network dedicated to the study and treatment of pediatric rheumatic diseases. Founded in 1996, the organization functions as an Academic Research Organization (ARO) that coordinates large-scale clinical trials and develops standardized outcome measures. Based at the Istituto Giannina Gaslini in Genoa, Italy, PRINTO comprises over 500 centers across more than 90 countries. The organization collaborates extensively with pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agencies like the EMA and FDA to facilitate the approval of new therapies for children. Their work primarily focuses on conditions such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and autoinflammatory syndromes. By providing a global infrastructure for pediatric research, PRINTO has significantly advanced the availability of evidence-based treatments in the field of pediatric rheumatology.
