The company served as a critical partner to Celgene Corporation, providing the active pharmaceutical ingredient and finished product for thalidomide's use in treating multiple myeloma and complications of leprosy. In October 2004, Celgene acquired Penn T for approximately $110 million to secure its global supply chain and consolidate manufacturing rights for its flagship product. Following the acquisition, the entity was renamed Celgene UK Manufacturing II, Limited and integrated into Celgene's global operations. The company's legacy continues as part of Bristol Myers Squibb, which acquired Celgene in 2019.
