Peptech Therapeutics

Peptech (later Arana Therapeutics) was a prominent Australian biotechnology company specializing in the development of antibody and peptide-based therapeutics for inflammatory diseases and cancer. The company was widely recognized for its foundational intellectual property in TNF-alpha inhibitors, which secured significant royalty streams from blockbuster drugs such as Humira and Enbrel. Peptech expanded its oncology pipeline through strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of cancer-targeting antibodies from Scancell. In 2007, Peptech merged with EvoGenix to form Arana Therapeutics, which was subsequently acquired by Cephalon in 2009 for approximately $329 million. Following Cephalon's acquisition by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in 2011, Peptech's assets and programs were integrated into Teva's specialty pharmaceuticals portfolio.
