Company intelligence / Profile preview
Pequot Capital Management was a prominent American investment firm that operated a significant private equity and venture capital business focused on the life sciences and healthcare sectors. Founded in 1998 by Arthur Samberg, the firm's private equity arm, Pequot Ventures, was a prolific investor in biotechnology, medical devices, and healthcare information technology. At its peak, Pequot was one of the largest hedge funds in the world, managing over $15 billion in assets and maintaining a deep bench of expertise in technology and healthcare markets. The firm ceased operations in 2010 following an SEC investigation into insider trading, and its venture capital team subsequently spun off to form FirstMark Capital.
