Pequot Ventures

Pequot Ventures was the venture capital arm of Pequot Capital Management, a prominent New York-based hedge fund. Founded in 1996, the firm specialized in early-stage and growth-stage investments across the technology, healthcare, and life sciences sectors. The firm's healthcare portfolio historically included significant investments in biotechnology, medical devices, and healthcare information technology. In 2008, the venture capital team successfully spun off from the parent organization to become an independent entity known as FirstMark Capital. This transition allowed the venture team to operate separately from the legal and regulatory issues that eventually led to the closure of Pequot Capital Management.
