Beijing Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Technology Development was the Chinese research and development subsidiary of the US-based biotechnology firm Peregrine Pharmaceuticals (now Avid Bioservices). The company focused on advancing a pipeline of novel immunotherapies and monoclonal antibodies, most notably bavituximab, for the treatment of various solid tumors. Bavituximab was designed to target phosphatidylserine, a phospholipid that acts as an immune-suppressive signal in the tumor microenvironment. The Beijing subsidiary played a critical role in managing clinical trials and regulatory affairs within the Chinese market to support the parent company's global development strategy. Following the parent company's strategic pivot to a dedicated contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) model in 2018, internal drug development activities and the operations of this subsidiary were largely discontinued or divested.
