Company intelligence / Profile preview
Peridex was a pharmaceutical entity primarily focused on the development and commercialization of oral healthcare products, most notably the prescription mouthwash Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate 0.12%). Originally developed by Procter & Gamble, the brand and its associated business unit were established to address periodontal diseases such as gingivitis. The product works as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that targets bacterial cell walls and membranes to reduce inflammation and bleeding of the gums. Over time, the Peridex brand and its manufacturing rights were transitioned through various corporate acquisitions, including Zila, Inc. and subsequently 3M. Today, the name is synonymous with the gold-standard therapeutic rinse used in clinical dentistry for the treatment of oral infections.
