Company intelligence / Profile preview
Perlan Therapeutics was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapies for respiratory viral infections. The company's lead program, PTX-001, was a recombinant human soluble Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (rhICAM-1) designed to treat the common cold by acting as a decoy receptor for rhinoviruses. By binding to the virus before it could attach to nasal epithelial cells, the therapy aimed to reduce the severity and duration of symptoms. Perlan advanced its lead candidate through Phase 2 clinical trials before being acquired by Biota Pharmaceuticals in 2012 to bolster their respiratory antiviral pipeline.
