PG Research

PG Research Foundation, Inc. (PGRF) was a research organization founded in 1998 by Dr. E. Philip Horwitz, a world-renowned expert in separation science and former senior scientist at Argonne National Laboratory. Headquartered in Darien, Illinois, the foundation focused on developing advanced chemical separation technologies, particularly extraction chromatography, for environmental monitoring and nuclear medicine. PGRF's pioneering work in radionuclide separation led to the development of the RadioGenix isotope separation system, which was licensed to NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes to produce medical radioisotopes like molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) and technetium-99m (Tc-99m) without using enriched uranium. The foundation also developed methods for purifying therapeutic alpha-emitters such as actinium-225 (Ac-225) and bismuth-213 (Bi-213) for targeted cancer therapies. PGRF ceased operations in December 2020.
