Overview

PhaBuilder develops and commercializes polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) bioplastics using proprietary synthetic biology platforms derived from Tsinghua University research. The company operates the world’s largest NGIB-based PHA production line with a capacity of up to 30,000 tons per year. Its technology enables cost-effective production of biodegradable plastics from non-grain carbon sources such as agricultural waste. In addition to PHAs for packaging/textiles/etc., it has demonstrated biosynthesis of gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) and its derivative chemicals using engineered Halomonas strains.
