Pharma Bio-Research

Pharma Bio-Research (PBR) was a prominent European contract research organization (CRO) specializing in early-phase clinical drug development. Founded in 1982 and headquartered in the Netherlands, the company provided a comprehensive suite of services including Phase I and Phase IIa clinical trials, bioanalytical laboratory services, and clinical pharmacology. PBR was particularly recognized for its expertise in complex study designs and its state-of-the-art clinical facilities in Zuidlaren and Assen. In 2006, the company was acquired by PRA International for approximately $95 million, significantly expanding PRA's early-phase capabilities in Europe. Today, its legacy and facilities continue to operate as part of ICON plc following the merger of PRA Health Sciences and ICON.
