Pharma Futures

Pharma Futures was a prominent investor-led initiative and consultancy focused on the long-term sustainability and business model transformation of the pharmaceutical industry. Established in 2004 by a consortium of major pension funds, including the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), APG, and OPERS, the project facilitated strategic dialogues between investors and pharmaceutical executives. The initiative produced a series of four major reports (Pharma Futures 1-4) that addressed critical issues such as R&D productivity, access to medicines in emerging markets, and the alignment of societal health outcomes with shareholder value. Although its primary legal entity, Pharma Futures Solutions Limited, is no longer active, the initiative's frameworks continue to inform ESG strategies and corporate responsibility within the global healthcare sector.
