Company intelligence / Profile preview
Pharma Plus was a prominent Canadian retail pharmacy chain that operated primarily in Ontario and Western Canada. Originally established as a division of the Oshawa Group in 1974, it was later acquired by the Katz Group of Companies in 1997. The chain provided a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including prescription dispensing, medication therapy management, and over-the-counter health products. In the mid-2010s, the brand was integrated with Rexall to form Rexall Pharma Plus, aiming to consolidate the parent company's market share. Following the acquisition of Rexall Health by McKesson Canada in 2016 for approximately $2.9 billion CAD, the Pharma Plus banner was phased out in favor of a unified Rexall brand. Today, the legacy of Pharma Plus continues through the expanded Rexall network, which remains one of Canada's largest pharmacy retailers.
