Company intelligence / Profile preview
Pharmacells was a Scottish biotechnology company specializing in the isolation and storage of adult stem cells for regenerative medicine. The company developed a proprietary technology known as Oristem, which claimed to extract pluripotent-like stem cells from a standard peripheral blood sample. This platform was designed to provide a non-invasive alternative to bone marrow or adipose tissue harvesting for cell therapy. Pharmacells offered personalized stem cell banking services, targeting individuals who wished to preserve their cells for future medical treatments. Despite securing investment and expanding its reach into Asian markets, the company faced scientific scrutiny and financial difficulties. Pharmacells officially entered liquidation in 2016 and is no longer active.
