Company intelligence / Profile preview
FAST BioMedical (formerly PharmacoPhotonics) was a clinical-stage medical technology company that developed a first-in-class system for real-time measurement of kidney function and blood volume. The technology utilized a proprietary fluorescent tracer agent and a non-invasive optical sensor to provide clinicians with accurate, actionable data on a patient's Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) and plasma volume within minutes. This information was intended to improve the management of critically ill patients, particularly those with heart failure, sepsis, or undergoing major surgery, where traditional surrogate markers like serum creatinine are often delayed or inaccurate. Despite successful Phase 2 trials and receiving FDA Expedited Review status, the company reportedly ceased operations in 2025.
