Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board

The Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) is a specialized accreditation program that evaluates compounding pharmacies against rigorous national standards. Established in 2004 by eight leading pharmacy organizations, PCAB aims to provide a quality-assurance system for the compounding pharmacy profession. In 2014, the organization was integrated into the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), where it continues to operate as a service. PCAB accreditation signifies that a pharmacy has met high-level standards for sterile and non-sterile compounding, including compliance with USP <795> and USP <797> guidelines. The accreditation process involves an extensive on-site evaluation and a review of the pharmacy's policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and high-quality compounded preparations.
