Company intelligence / Profile preview
Pharmadigm was a biopharmaceutical company based in Salt Lake City, Utah, dedicated to developing therapies for inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases. The company's core research centered on the therapeutic potential of secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI), a naturally occurring protein with potent anti-inflammatory properties. Its lead product candidate, PB-005 (recombinant SLPI), was evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of asthma and was also explored for cystic fibrosis and other respiratory conditions. In January 2003, Pharmadigm was acquired by Durect Corporation in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $10 million. This acquisition was strategically designed to combine Pharmadigm's protein expertise with Durect's proprietary drug delivery technologies, such as the SABER system, to create long-acting injectable or inhalable formulations.
