PharmaNetics was a medical diagnostics company specializing in point-of-care blood coagulation testing. The company developed and marketed the Thrombolytic Assessment System (TAS), a portable platform designed to provide rapid results for monitoring anticoagulant therapy and assessing clotting function. Its products were primarily used in hospitals, particularly in interventional cardiology and surgical settings, to manage patients receiving drugs like heparin or bivalirudin. The company's technology utilized dry chemistry and paramagnetic iron oxide particles to measure clotting times. Despite establishing significant partnerships with major pharmaceutical firms like Bayer and Aventis, the company faced financial challenges and filed for bankruptcy. Its assets were eventually acquired by International Technidyne Corporation (ITC) in 2004.
