Pharmix

Pharmix was a biotechnology company based in Burlingame, California, that specialized in computational drug discovery and structure-based design. The company developed a proprietary platform that integrated molecular modeling with high-throughput virtual screening to identify and optimize small molecule drug candidates. Its research efforts were primarily focused on therapeutic areas such as oncology and inflammatory diseases, targeting proteins like kinases and proteases. Pharmix's technology was designed to significantly reduce the time and cost associated with the early stages of drug development. In October 2005, the company was acquired by Nektar Therapeutics for approximately $25 million in stock. This acquisition allowed Nektar to incorporate Pharmix's discovery engine into its own drug development efforts.
