Phase 2 Discovery

Phase 2 Discovery was a UK-based biotechnology company specializing in the discovery and development of novel antibiotics to address the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The company focused on identifying small molecule candidates with unique mechanisms of action against multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative pathogens, such as Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Led by industry veterans with extensive experience in antibiotic development, Phase 2 Discovery utilized a proprietary platform to target the bacterial actin-like protein MreB, an essential component for cell wall synthesis. The company was a key participant in the European ENABLE project and received funding from CARB-X to advance its lead program, P2D-144. Although the company was dissolved in 2022, its research contributed significantly to the advancement of next-generation anti-infective agents targeting novel bacterial proteins.
