Phiex Technologies has developed a patented light/moisture-triggered powder that releases chlorine dioxide for rapid, on-demand sterilization. Their self-disinfecting materials are designed to replace traditional bulk sterilizers and enable cost-effective sterile manufacturing of medical devices. The company was the grand winner of Medtech Innovator’s 2022 cohort—the first time a non-device company won—highlighting its disruptive potential in the field of medical device packaging and sterilization alternatives to EtO. Clinical/commercial validation is ongoing with strong industry interest but no published clinical trial results yet.
