Phoenix Acquisition

Phoenix Biotech Acquisition Corp. (PBAX) was a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) focused on the life sciences sector. In February 2024, it completed a business combination with CERo Therapeutics, a biotechnology company developing a novel class of engineered T cell therapeutics called Chimeric Engulfment Receptor T cells (CER-T). Unlike traditional CAR-T therapies, CER-T cells are designed to integrate phagocytic mechanisms to eliminate cancer cells, potentially offering improved efficacy in both hematological malignancies and solid tumors. The combined company, renamed CERo Therapeutics Holdings, Inc., is advancing its lead candidate, CER-1236, into clinical trials for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The platform aims to engage the body's full immune repertoire by building in engulfment pathways to destroy cancer cells.
