Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, the company specialized in preclinical research, bioanalytical services, and Phase I-IV clinical trials. At its peak in the late 1990s, it was one of the largest CROs in the world, operating major facilities across North America and Europe and serving most of the world's top pharmaceutical innovators. In 2000, the company was acquired by MDS Inc. for approximately $497 million and integrated into MDS Pharma Services, significantly expanding MDS's global reach in early-stage clinical research.
