Overview

Phosphoenix is developing a wireless, chronically implanted neuroprosthetic device that bypasses the eyes and optic nerve to restore functional vision in profoundly blind individuals by directly stimulating the visual cortex. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that their technology can generate interpretable artificial images in non-human primates using high-density electrode arrays, enabling recognition of shapes and letters through induced phosphenes. The company is currently advancing toward clinical translation.
