Photonis

Photonis is an electro-optics and detection technology company best known as a long-standing product brand and group of legal entities now operating within Exosens. The business designs and manufactures image intensifier tubes, microchannel plates, ion and electron detectors, mass spectrometry detectors, photodetectors, and related imaging components used across defense, analytical instrumentation, nuclear, industrial, and selected life science markets. In healthcare and life science, Photonis products are primarily enabling components for analytical instruments, medical and scientific imaging, and cell analysis rather than therapeutics. The former Photonis Group was acquired by HLD in 2021 and rebranded as Exosens in September 2023, while key legal entities such as Photonis France SAS and Photonis Netherlands BV have remained in operation. For biotech and healthcare analysts, Photonis should be viewed as a commercial life science tools and advanced detection hardware supplier, not a drug developer.
