Pioneer Pharmaceutical Research was a clinical research organization (CRO) and clinical trial site network that specialized in central nervous system (CNS) and behavioral health clinical trials. As a subsidiary of PHC, Inc. (Pioneer Behavioral Health), the company operated investigative sites that conducted Phase I through Phase IV clinical trials for major pharmaceutical partners such as AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, and Bristol Myers Squibb. Its research expertise spanned a wide range of psychiatric and neurological indications, including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and Alzheimer's disease. In 2011, its parent company PHC, Inc. was acquired by Acadia Healthcare, leading to the integration of its clinical research operations into the larger organization.
