Pitt BioForge

Pitt BioForge is a state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility located at the Hazelwood Green site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A signature initiative of the University of Pittsburgh, it was launched with a 100 million dollar grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation to establish the region as a global leader in life sciences. The center is anchored by a strategic partnership with ElevateBio, which utilizes its BaseCamp platform to provide cell and gene therapy manufacturing and development services. Pitt BioForge is designed to support the translation of clinical research into commercial products, offering specialized capabilities in viral vector production and regenerative medicine. By providing bench-to-bedside infrastructure, the facility aims to attract biotech startups and major pharmaceutical companies to the Pittsburgh ecosystem. The 185,000-square-foot building serves as a critical hub for the production of advanced therapies, including mRNA-based drugs and engineered cell treatments.
