PIXAPP

PIXAPP is the world's first open-access Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) assembly and packaging pilot line, established to bridge the gap between research and industrial manufacturing. Coordinated by the Tyndall National Institute in Ireland, the consortium provides a standardized "one-stop-shop" for the development and pilot-scale production of advanced photonic devices. PIXAPP offers a comprehensive suite of packaging technologies, including optical, electrical, thermal, and micro-fluidic building blocks, which are essential for creating compact and high-performance systems. The organization specifically targets the healthcare sector, supporting the commercialization of innovative biosensors, medical imaging tools, and point-of-care diagnostic devices. By providing access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and expertise, PIXAPP enables companies to scale their photonic technologies from early-stage prototypes to medium-volume production.
