Company intelligence / Profile preview
Polartechnics was an Australian medical technology company focused on the development and commercialization of non-invasive diagnostic devices for cancer screening. The company's flagship product, TruScan, utilized proprietary opto-electrical technology to provide real-time detection of cervical precancerous and cancerous lesions, offering an alternative to traditional Pap smears. Additionally, Polartechnics developed SolarScan, an automated system designed to assist clinicians in the early diagnosis of melanoma through digital imaging and analysis. Despite achieving regulatory approvals and establishing a global distribution network, the company encountered significant financial difficulties. In 2010, Polartechnics entered voluntary administration, and its core cervical screening technology was subsequently acquired by TruScreen.
