Polymer Group

Polymer Group was a U.S.-based engineered materials company best known as Polymer Group, Inc. and later AVINTIV. The company developed and manufactured nonwoven specialty materials used in hygiene, wipes, medical, infection-prevention, industrial, and related applications rather than developing therapeutics. In healthcare, its products served medical and surgical markets through nonwoven materials for infection prevention and other disposable medical applications. The business was acquired by Berry Plastics Group in 2015 for approximately $2.45 billion after having been rebranded as AVINTIV. As a result, Polymer Group no longer operates as an independent company.
