Company intelligence / Profile preview
Potenza Therapeutics was a Cambridge-based biotechnology company specializing in the discovery and development of novel immuno-oncology therapies. The company's research focused on three primary areas: co-stimulatory receptor agonists, checkpoint inhibitors, and regulatory T-cell (Treg) modulating agents. Potenza entered into a significant multi-year collaboration with Astellas Pharma in 2015, which provided Astellas the option to acquire the company. This partnership resulted in the advancement of several candidates into clinical trials, including therapies targeting TIGIT, ICOS, and GITR. In December 2018, Astellas exercised its option and acquired Potenza to strengthen its oncology pipeline, integrating its portfolio of antibody-based therapies into Astellas' global R&D operations.
