PPOM (Preferred Provider Organization of Michigan) was a leading regional healthcare network management company that operated one of the largest independent preferred provider organization (PPO) networks in the Midwestern United States. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, the company provided access to a comprehensive network of hospitals and physicians to insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and third-party administrators. PPOM underwent several ownership changes, including acquisitions by Texas Pacific Group and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, before being sold to Aetna in 2005. Following its acquisition by Aetna, the company's operations were integrated into the Cofinity brand, which continues to provide managed care and network access services today.
