Practice-Based Commissioning Federation

The Practice-Based Commissioning Federation was a UK-based professional organization that represented General Practitioners (GPs) and primary care professionals involved in the Practice-Based Commissioning (PBC) initiative within the National Health Service (NHS). Established during a period of significant healthcare reform, the Federation served as a central hub for sharing clinical commissioning expertise and developing leadership skills among frontline providers. The organization advocated for clinician-led procurement, aiming to ensure that local health services were more closely aligned with the specific needs of patient populations. By providing a collective voice, the Federation influenced national health policy and negotiated commissioning frameworks with the Department of Health.
